Our clients were in search of a private outdoor space at home where they could relax and recharge after a long and busy day. The side yard slopped to the sidewalk so it was unusable and exposed. This was remedied by building concrete walls creating a level gathering area that's now hidden from public view. The new private side yard is enhanced with elegant field-grown Yoshino cherry trees, with their almond-scented whitish pink blossoms, illuminated from below in the evening. Gravel paving and a fire pit add ambiance, creating a retreat-like atmosphere.

A large pillar on the back terrace supporting the roof obstructed the view from inside through the concertina doors. We removed the large pillar, installed an I-beam above to support the roof, opening the space and allowing an elegant transition between indoors and out.

Behind a new automated driveway gate the back-door terrace was extended. Spanish limestone was added to the terraces encompassing three sides of the residence. Heaters were installed in the pergola extending outdoor dining and relaxation into the evening. A bar was installed with automated awning, precast concrete countertop, dual sinks and refrigerators for large gatherings. The new gardens now create, a spa-like ambience, a world apart for family and friends.
